Can Gift Certificates be sent anonymously? How can a customer purchase a gift certificate secretly for someone else?
Response:
Normally, purchaser would buy a gift cert. for recipient, and would enter their cc for you to charge it. Then, after you charge it, you would mark the gift cert order as "sent", and this would trigger an email to the recipient that identifies the purchaser's name.
So, you have two options here:
1. Let the purchaser place the order online as normal, but tell you ahead of time that it must be sent anonymously. After you charge the purchaser's cc, you can change the purchaser's name temporarily on their customer record to something like A. Nonymous or Anonymous Anonymous, then mark the order as Sent. Then the triggered email would reflect the name you had changed it to. After that is sent, change the name back on the person's customer record.
2. Have the customer give you their info over the phone. You can place the order for them from the OMS - in their name. Then charge their credit card. Then, after you charge the purchaser's cc, follow the rest of the steps above.
